Best Oct–Nov for crisp clear skies, Himalayan views and the Thimphu and Jakar tshechus (festivals). Mar–May is the second peak: rhododendrons bloom and the Paro tshechu fills the dzong courtyards. Jun–Sep is monsoon — lush valleys but cloudy passes and tough trekking. Dec–Feb is cold and clear; high passes can close with snow.
